Community Advisory Committee
The 82nd Avenue Transit Project Community Advisory Committee (CAC) serves an important role in representing our community and will provide feedback to the project’s decision makers.
Applications will be accepted through Monday, January 27, 2025
Membership and Meetings
The CAC will comprise a diverse group of individuals representing a variety of perspectives, including residents, business owners, transit riders and organizations that serve people who use 82nd Avenue and the project route.
Applications will be accepted through Monday, January 27, 2025. Members will be selected by TriMet, in consultation with jurisdictional partners involved with the project.
Meetings will be held at PCC Southeast Community Hall Annex from 6–7:30 p.m. on February 26, 2025 and March 19, 2025, then continuing on the fourth Wednesday of each month through early 2027. Meetings will likely be canceled in July, August and December, and frequency may slow in 2026, as design nears completion.
Meetings are in-person, open to the public and include time for public comment. Committee members will receive transit passes and meals. Stipends of $50 per meeting may be available for eligible members per TriMet’s advisory committee stipend policy.
Purpose and Expectations
- The CAC serves as a sounding board for design issues. Feedback from the CAC will be shared with decision-makers. Each member’s perspective is valued, and consensus is not necessary.
- Members study, discuss and provide feedback on design issues, many of which are subject to financial and regulatory constraints.
Design issues may include:- Stations and their interface with buses, autos and adjacent streetscapes
- Transit priority treatments like BAT lanes (business and transit lanes) and changes at intersections
- Pedestrian crossings, safety and accessibility improvements
- Bus layover facilities at the ends of the line
- Members serve as liaisons with the communities they represent, providing a strong two-way communication link between the project and those it affects.
This includes:- Keeping the CAC informed about interests and concerns in one’s own community
- Considering public comments received during CAC meetings
- Considering feedback received in the project’s other community engagement efforts
- Members participate with a spirit of collaboration, working toward a transit project that maximizes benefits and minimizes impacts, particularly for vulnerable communities.
- Members participate in all scheduled meetings. Members missing more than three consecutive meetings will be asked to step down.
- Members honor group participation guidelines, to be developed as a committee.

TriMet is committed to diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility. Because historic barriers have prevented some of our most vulnerable community members from participating in the public process, we strive to create engaging community dialogue that is inclusive of all races, cultures, identities and abilities.
