MAX Blue Line Improvements Project

This spring, we’re doing work along the entire length of MAX Blue Line. We’ll be replacing sections of rail ranging from 20 to 1,300 feet, and making other improvements, including rebuilding rail crossings at Gateway Transit Center where buses cross MAX tracks.

Much of the work will be done in overnight hours or in a way it doesn’t disrupt MAX service. However, there will be times when trains will run in both directions on a single track on the westside. There will also be a few times when shuttle buses will replace trains in areas on the eastside.

There will be limited capacity on shuttle buses due to COVID-19. Riders planning to use TriMet to reach their vaccination appointment will want to give themselves even more time to ensure they reach their appointment ahead of their scheduled time.

Westside: April 12–April 25

Trains will be running on a single track at times in sections between Hatfield Government Center and the Goose Hollow/SW Jefferson St. Station. Delays are possible, so riders should plan an extra 20 minutes for their trips. Riders may need to board or exit trains on the opposite platform. Check trimet.org/alerts before you go. We’ll post alerts if boarding at a station changes.

Gateway: April 17–18

MAX Blue, Green and Red Lines will be disrupted due to crossing improvements being made at Gateway Transit Center where buses cross MAX tracks. Service will be affected throughout those MAX lines, and shuttle buses will take riders between Gateway, E 102nd Ave Station and SE Main St Station. Trains will arrive less often in some areas. Riders should plan an extra 15 minutes for trips during the weekend. Due to COVID-19 precautions, buses and trains will only have room for limited riders. Learn more at trimet.org/health.
