Steel Bridge Construction June 1 through August 30, 2008

Transit and auto traffic is affected as crews install new MAX tracks

Beginning June 1, seven bus lines are detoured from the Steel Bridge for the summer while work is done on the Portland Mall/I-205 Light Rail project.

All bus lines will serve their current stops at the Rose Quarter Transit Center (TC). No stops will be added on the east side of the Willamette River. Schedules for these lines have been adjusted.

These buses now use the Broadway Bridge: 4-Fessenden, 8-NE 15th Ave, 10-NE 33rd Ave and 44-Mocks Crest, The stop for buses traveling to downtown at NW 3rd & Flanders is closed; stops have been added at NW Broadway & Hoyt and NW Everett & 4th. Leaving downtown the stop at NW 2nd & Everett will not be served; stops have been added at NW Glisan & 6th and NW Broadway & Irving.

77-Broadway/Halsey now uses the Broadway Bridge. The stops for buses traveling to Montgomery Park at NW Glisan & 3rd, NW Glisan & 6th and NW Broadway & Hoyt will not be served. Stops for buses traveling to Troutdale at NW Broadway & Glisan, NW Everett & 4th and Everett & 2nd will not be served. No stops have been added.

The 33-Fremont and 35-Greeley now use the Burnside Bridge. The stops for buses traveling to downtown at NW 3rd & Flanders and NW 3rd & Couch will not be served; a stop has been added at West Burnside & Burnside Bridge. Leaving downtown the stops at NW 4th & Davis and NW 2nd & Everett will not be served; a stop has been added at West Burnside & 2nd.

The Steel Bridge will close to MAX trains August 2-24. During the interruption, shuttle buses will carry MAX riders between Rose Quarter TC/Convention Center stations and Old Town/Chinatown Station.

How traffic will be affected

  • June 1–August 30: TriMet buses will not use Steel Bridge; detours in place
  • June 10–August 1: Bridge closed to all vehicles except MAX trains
  • August 2–24: Bridge closed to all vehicles including TriMet MAX; shuttle buses provided

Bicycle and pedestrian access will be maintained.
