Heidi Frymark, winner of the
Name that train! contest.
WES: Westside Express Service
And the winner is...
On Monday, November 19, Heidi Frymark of Oregon City won the All-Zone Annual Pass grand prize in TriMet's Name that train! contest.
WES was selected as the new name of the Washington County commuter rail line and stands for "Westside Express Service". In October TriMet launched a six-week Name that train! contest. Over 1,700 entries from the Portland metro area were received. Entries were judged by Washington County officials and community organizations and they narrowed the list of names to five. Eighteen people submitted the winning name.
To get her to her job in Hillsboro, Ms. Frymark occasionally commutes via Blue Line MAX from Gateway Transit Center. She first heard about the contest when she received a service alert email from TriMet.
Her reaction to winning the contest? "I couldn't believe it! I was getting calls from people. My sister-in-law heard it on the radio and my brother read it in the paper before I'd had a chance to tell them!"
Heidi Frymark is a commercial plans examiner for Washington County. She occasionally commutes to her job in Hillsboro by using the Park & Ride at Gateway and takes MAX Blue Line. When asked if she'll be riding WES when it opens next September she said, "Yes, absolutely. I am looking forward to it! The nice part about MAX and WES is that once I'm on, I can kick back and catch up on the news, read a book, work on beading, or whatever."
Congratulations, Heidi Frymark!
