Ticket Machine Out of Order?
Don’t give up just yet… There are other ways you can purchase your fare:
- Try another form of payment. If the machine isn't accepting debit/credit cards, it's probably still accepting bills and coins.
- Try another machine. Many stations have more than one.
- Buy a ticket in advance. You can buy books of 10 tickets in advance at neighborhood ticket outlets including Safeway, Fred Meyer and Albertsons stores, and at the TriMet Ticket Office at Pioneer Courthouse Square. Just remember to stamp your ticket in the validator at the station before boarding.
- Buy a ticket from a nearby vendor. During business hours, you can buy a ticket at participating shops and cafes at some of the major MAX stations (such as Gresham Central Transit Center).
We realize it's a hassle when a machine is out of order. We've stepped up our maintenance efforts to reduce breakdowns, and we'll be replacing about 50 old machines by spring 2009.
