Opened on September 12, 2015, the Portland-Milwaukie light rail transit line travels 7.3 miles between PSU, inner Southeast Portland, Milwaukie and Oak Grove in north Clackamas County.

Highlights

  • Extends from the terminus of the MAX Green and Yellow lines at Portland State University in Downtown Portland to South Waterfront, SE Portland, Milwaukie and north Clackamas County
  • TriMet’s 6th light rail project, bringing the region’s total light rail system to 60 miles
  • Tilikum Crossing, Bridge of the People: The first of its kind multi-modal bridge in the U.S. carries light rail and streetcar trains, buses, bicyclists and pedestrians, but no private vehicles
  • Fifty percent federally funded. State, regional and local contributions constitute the remaining 50 percent
  • Projected to increase work commutes from the Portland-Milwaukie corridor to downtown Portland by 20 percent
