Bus Emergency Instructions
In the event of an emergency that requires evacuating a TriMet bus, please follow our simple rules. Your best protection in an emergency is to remain calm, think clearly and follow the instructions of TriMet personnel.
Always report emergencies to TriMet personnel and listen for announcements and instructions.
Fire
- Follow instructions from the bus operator or TriMet personnel
- Exit from the bus
Medical
- If a passenger is in distress, notify the bus operator or TriMet personnel immediately
- If you are medically qualified and able to assist, identify yourself
Police
- Report to the bus operator or TriMet personnel any unlawful or suspicious activity
- Bus operator or TriMet personnel will contact TriMet dispatch, who will notify police
Emergency evacuation
- Follow instructions from the bus operator, TriMet personnel and emergency responders
- At doors: Break emergency exit panel, pull red handle and push doors open
- At windows: Follow the instructions posted on or next to the emergency exit window
