Rose Festival Fleet bridge lifts cause transit delays

About a dozen ships coming to Portland for the Rose Festival may mean MAX and bus delays up to 20 minutes on Wednesday through Friday, June 8-10.

The lifts are scheduled between:

  • 2-4 p.m. on Wednesday
  • 9 a.m.-3 p.m., and again between 6 p.m.-6:30 p.m. on Thursday
  • 1-3 p.m. on Friday

During the lifts, all MAX trains (Blue, Red and Yellow lines) will drop riders at the Rose Quarter and Old Town/Chinatown stations and turn back.

Shuttle buses will be available to take MAX riders across the river, but they will have limited options if several bridges are raised at the same time.

Riders traveling during these times should be prepared for delays. TriMet staff will assist riders at Old Town/Chinatown Station and Rose Quarter Transit Center.

Bus lines crossing bridges

These 11 bus lines crossing the Steel, Burnside and Morrison bridges will also experience delays and some detours may result:

  • 1-Greeley
  • 4-Fessenden
  • 8-NE 15th Ave
  • 9-Broadway
  • 10-NE 33rd Ave
  • 12-Sandy
  • 15-Belmont
  • 19-Glisan
  • 20-Burnside/Stark
  • 40-Mocks Crest
  • 77-Broadway/Halsey

Airport MAX shuttle

During bridge lifts, MAX riders traveling to the airport may board an airport shuttle bus at Old Town/Chinatown Station that will take them directly to the airport. Riders should schedule extra travel time for their trip.
