Washington County Commuter Rail construction continues

Tonquin Road will close for a weekend

Intersection reconstruction on the 14.7-mile Washington County Commuter Rail line begins the weekend of January 5th. Crews will remove existing rail, install new rail and resurface the intersection at Tonquin Rd. in Washington County.

The work will close Tonquin Rd. from Friday, Jan. 5th at 7 p.m. until Monday, Jan. 8th at 5 a.m. The intersection is the first of 14 public crossings that will be closed for weekend work.

Traffic detours:

Traffic will be detoured around the construction zone and there will be minor delays. Motorists should use SW Tualatin-Sherwood Rd. via SW Oregon, SW Murdock, SW Baker, SW Tooze and SW Grahams Ferry Rd.

What’s next:

In February, three intersections in Tualatin will be closed for reconstruction:

  • SW Teton Ave. - Feb. 2nd - 5th
  • SW 95th Ave. - Feb. 9th - 12th
  • SW Tualatin Rd. - Feb. 16th - 19th

Other intersections closures will occur March, July, October, November and December.

About the project:

Washington County Commuter Rail will use existing freight tracks to serve the cities of Beaverton, Tigard, Tualatin and Wilsonville when it opens in September 2008. It is the first commuter rail line in Oregon, and among a handful of suburb-to-suburb commuter lines in the country.
