The 42-year old employee of Tigard-based Williams & Ryan Construction who died yesterday in a construction accident on the Portland Mall MAX light rail project has been identified as Jeffrey Alan Helgeson of Beaverton.
The incident occurred at the intersection of SW 6th and Alder around 2:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Helgeson was doing concrete demolition work as part of water utility relocation when a piece of equipment came loose and struck him.
The accident is under investigation.
Funeral services are planned for Saturday.
