TriMet adjusts service effective June 1

Seven bus lines and vehicles to be detoured from the Steel Bridge for the summer

Starting Sunday, June 1st, the Steel Bridge will close to buses for about three months for construction on the I-205/Portland Mall Light Rail project. The bridge will close to all vehicle traffic on Tuesday, June 10.

Seven bus lines that use the bridge will be detoured to the Broadway and Burnside bridges. In addition, TriMet will make service and schedule adjustments on 10 bus lines in order to operate more efficiently and improve reliability.

The following bus lines will be rerouted from the Steel Bridge:
These bus lines will use the Broadway Bridge:

  • 4-Fessenden
  • 8-NE 15th Ave
  • 10-NE 33rd Ave
  • 44-Mocks Crest
  • 77-Broadway/Halsey

These bus lines will use the Burnside Bridge:

  • 33-Fremont
  • 35-Greeley

All bus lines detoured from the Steel Bridge will serve their current stops at the Rose Quarter Transit Center. There is one exception. On Saturday, June 7, the seven detoured bus lines will use the Steel Bridge during the Grand Floral Parade. Following the parade, at 2 p.m., these bus lines will return to their summer reroute.

New schedules

To improve schedule reliability, these lines will be adjusted by more than three minutes:

  • 8-Jackson schedule reliability, these lines will be adjusted by Park - weekday and weekend schedules will be adjusted
  • 9-Broadway - weekday schedules will be adjusted
  • 35-Macadam - weekday and Sunday schedules will be adjusted
  • 44-Capitol Hwy - weekday schedules will be adjusted
  • 58-Canyon Rd - weekend schedules will be adjusted
  • 70-12th Ave - weekday schedules will be adjusted
  • 71-60th Ave/122nd Ave - weekday and weekend schedules will be adjusted
