TriMet service adjustments begin August 31

Fare increase starts September 1

TriMet will implement bus route and schedule changes effective Sunday, August 31. A handful has route changes and about one-third of all routes have schedule changes of three to 10 minutes to help with schedule reliability.

Service adjustments effective August 31

  • Line 12-Sandy Blvd will be detoured from 223rd Avenue to 238th Avenue between Sandy Blvd and Halsey for about a year because of construction. Temporary bus stops will be placed on Sandy between 223rd and 235th and southbound on 223rd south of Halsey. Buses will serve existing Line 77-Broadway/Halsey stops on Halsey between 238th and 223rd.
  • The Line 74-Lloyd District/Southeast will change to make turns safer by traveling to Lloyd District using NE 22nd Avenue between Glisan and Irving, rather than NE 24th Avenue. The change allows for northbound buses to have clearer sight lines and more room for a larger turning radius at the intersection. Southbound buses will continue to use NE 24th Avenue.
  • Line 75-39th Ave/Lombard will extend service to serve Native American Youth and Family Center (NAYA) at NE Columbia Boulevard & 52nd Avenue. This extension is a weekday-only service between 8-11 a.m. and 3-6 p.m. where buses will extend service from traveling north on 42nd by turning east on Columbia to 52nd, turning around and making a stop at NAYA.
  • Line 76-Beaverton/Tualatin will add adjacent stops to the Tualatin WES Commuter Rail Station at Boones Ferry Road & Seneca by traveling three blocks further on Boones Ferry Road.
  • At the request of Mt. Hood Community College, Lines 80-Kane Rd/Troutdale Rd and 81-Kane Rd/257th Ave will stay on 257th and no longer travel onto campus. Buses will share the Line 20-Burnside/Stark bus stops near the campus.
  • Lines 155-Sunnyside, 156-Mather Rd and 157-Happy Valley traveling inbound to Clackamas Town Center Transit Center will serve a new stop at the Kaiser Sunnyside Medical Center, which means riders will no longer cross six lanes of traffic on Sunnyside Road to board buses. Buses traveling outbound from the mall will continue to serve the stop by the medical center.

Buses return to the Steel Bridge August 31

    • Buses that were detoured from the Steel Bridge closure will return to their previous routes across the bridge.

Fares increase September 1

Fares will increase to offset general inflation and record-high diesel prices and include the following changes:

  •  Adult cash fares will increase 25 cents; monthly passes will increase $10
  • Youth/Student, Honored Citizen and LIFT cash fares will increase 10 cents; monthly passes will increase $2
  • A new rolling 14-day pass will be available to give riders the savings of a monthly pass but purchase it in smaller increments

All fare information is available online at trimet.org/fares.

A detailed list of routes with new schedules and/or stops is available online at trimet.org/alerts. Schedules are also be available onboard buses, at the TriMet Ticket Office downtown in Pioneer Courthouse Square or at Fred Meyer, Safeway and most Albertsons stores beginning the last week of August.
