Steel Bridge lift closes bike and pedestrian access on Saturday morning

On Saturday, August 16, the Steel Bridge will be closed to all bicycle and pedestrian traffic from approximately 6-8 a.m. The bridge counter-weights will be recalibrated following recent paving on the span.

Because MAX is not operating over the Steel Bridge, pedestrians should plan to ride a shuttle bus to cross the river; bicyclists should take the Burnside or Broadway bridges.

MAX Shuttle buses

• Catch the westbound shuttle bus at the Convention Center Station, which drops off riders at the Old Town/Chinatown Station.
• Catch the eastbound shuttle bus at the Old Town/Chinatown Station, which drops off riders at the Rose Quarter Transit Center.

The Steel Bridge remains closed to MAX and vehicle traffic through Aug 24; buses return to the bridge August 31, 2008.
