More MAX service added between Beaverton and Hillsboro starting March 2

Three morning trains from Hillsboro will travel to PDX

Starting Sunday, March 2, TriMet will add morning and afternoon rush hour MAX service between Beaverton and Hillsboro with the morning trips extending east to the Portland International Airport (PDX). The extra service will run between the Beaverton Transit Center (BTC) and Hatfield Government Center in Hillsboro.

"The added service means more capacity for Westside morning rush hour riders into and out of downtown," said TriMet General Manager Fred Hansen. "In addition, riders boarding these trains in Hillsboro will be able to travel all the way to the airport without switching trains."

MAX service changes

  • Three trips that originally departed from Beaverton TC between 6:45 and 8 a.m. will begin at the Hatfield Government Center and travel east to PDX.
  • Three additional trips originating at PDX will continue beyond Beaverton TC to Hatfield Government Center between 4:50 and 5:20 p.m.
  • All Blue, Red and Yellow Line schedules will have additional time added to accommodate more people boarding the train.

Ridership on Westside MAX has increased by double-digits in both morning and evening rush hours in the last three years. From fall 2004 to fall 2007, eastbound boardings from Hatfield to BTC between 7-9 a.m. has increased 18 percent. During evening rush hour, the number of westbound riders traveling between BTC and Hatfield has increased up 27 percent.
