TriMet board to vote on proposed increase for adult fares and youth monthly passes
June 6, 2011
Fare increase helps to restore service to 10 bus lines, MAX Blue Line
TriMet is proposing a fare increase of 5 cents for Adult tickets and $4 for Adult monthly passes; all other fixed-route cash fares remain unchanged. A $1 increase in youth monthly passes is also proposed. The increase helps offset the additional cost of providing service and rising diesel prices, as well as helps provide some service restoration to respond to overcrowding.
The second reading of the proposed increase will be voted on by the TriMet Board at its June 8 meeting. It will be held at 9 a.m. at the Portland Building, 1120 SW 5th Avenue, Room C.
If approved, the fare changes would take effect September 1, 2011.
Service restoration
The fare increase, if approved, will also help to add back service to help relieve crowding on 10 busy bus lines and the MAX Blue Line. Beginning on Sunday, September 4, the following bus lines will have additional trips: 4, 9, 12, 14, 35, 44, 52, 75, 78 and 94.
