Share your comments on proposed service cuts

We are seeking public comments on proposed service cuts that would take effect in September 2010.

Your feedback will help shape our final service cut proposal, which will be announced to the public and presented to the TriMet Board of Directors in April.

We invite you to send us your feedback by email, phone or mail. You also may comment in person by attending a public hearing on April 6 or 7. Please submit your comments by 5 p.m., Friday, April 23, 2010.

Due to the weak economy and declining payroll tax receipts, we are facing a $27 million budget shortfall. We are continuing the hiring and salary freeze and administrative cuts implemented last spring. In addition, the following changes have been proposed:

  • Adding federal stimulus funds: $7.2 million
  • Reducing administrative costs: $11.3 million
  • Strategic reductions in bus and MAX service: $8.7 million

Thank you for letting us know what you think about the proposed changes.
