Schedule Stop

A "schedule stop" is a specific intersection or place where a bus or MAX train is scheduled to be at a certain time. There are bus stops located between Schedule Stops along each bus route, and there are MAX stations located between Schedule Stops along each MAX line.

Transfer Location

A "transfer location" is a stop along a bus route where riders can transfer to connecting buses or trains.

Park & Ride

A "Park & Ride" is a parking lot or garage designated for use by TriMet riders and carpoolers. You may use a Park & Ride lot to catch the bus or MAX, or to meet your carpool or vanpool. Parking is free, but is limited to 24 hours.

Fare Zone Boundary

The TriMet service area is divided into three "fare zones." The fare you pay for your trip depends on the number of zones you want to travel through.

Transit Center

A "transit center" is a high-traffic location served by several bus or MAX lines. Transit Centers are conveniently located throughout the metro area, and many are adjacent to Park & Ride lots.

MAX Route & Station

"MAX route & station" indicates the route of a TriMet MAX Light Rail line or the location of a MAX station.

Snow Route

A "snow route" is a modified route taken by a bus when its regular route is too dangerous due to snow or ice. Actual snow routes may differ slightly from those shown on the map depending on road conditions. When a snow route is in effect, you'll find a detailed description posted on the Service Alerts page. If you plan to ride TriMet during snow/ice conditions, please read these important winter weather riding tips.

Not Served if Snow/Ice

"Not served if snow/ice" indicates a portion of the regular bus route that may not be served when snow routes are in effect. (It may be too dangerous for buses to use.) See the Service Alerts page to see if your bus line is on snow route.

Infrequent Service

"Infrequent service" refers to a portion of a bus route served less frequently than the rest of the route.

Rush-Hour Service Only

"Rush-hour service" refers to a portion of a bus route served only during rush hours (weekdays between 6 and 9 a.m., and between 4 and 6 p.m.).
