Eastside MAX Improvements Project

Sunday, Oct. 12: MAX Blue, Green and Red lines will be disrupted. Shuttle buses will serve stations between Rose Quarter Transit Center and Gateway/NE 99th Ave Transit Center.

Monday, Oct. 13, through Saturday, Oct. 18: MAX Red Line service will be disrupted between Gateway and Portland International Airport

TriMet will make a series of improvements to two separate sections of the MAX system in October as part of the Eastside MAX Improvements Project, from Sunday, Oct. 12, through Saturday, Oct. 18. These will require two disruptions east of the Willamette River.

For both disruptions, shuttle buses will run in place of trains and serve stops near closed stations.

Disruptions

October 12

Shuttle buses will replace MAX Blue, Green and Red Line trains between the Rose Quarter Transit Center and Gateway/NE 99th Ave Transit Center, arriving at closed stations approximately every seven minutes for most of the day. We encourage you to plan extra time for your trips through the disrupted area.

During the disruption, crews will remove construction scaffolding located at the south side of the NE 82nd Ave MAX Station platform stairs and install light poles along the new upper stair wall.

Regular MAX Blue and Green Line service will resume on Monday, Oct. 13.

October 13—18

Shuttle buses will replace Red Line trains between Gateway and Portland International Airport, running approximately every 15 minutes for most of the day. Riders heading to and from Portland International Airport should plan extra time for their trips and expect shuttle buses to be crowded.

During the disruption, crews will replace 100 feet of curved rail at the east end of the Gateway/NE 99th Ave Transit Center. Crews will also replace more curved rail near Cascades Station, deep clean stations, clear litter in our track, clean the ballast and replace rail ties.

Regular MAX Red Line service will resume on Sunday, Oct. 19.
