There’s no sugar-coating it: Funding for transit hasn’t kept up with rising costs, and TriMet is in trouble. We’ve already cut programs, staff and service to help balance our budget. That means fewer buses and trains for tens of thousands of people who rely on TriMet every day.
And without a long-term transportation funding solution, we’ll be forced to make more, and much deeper, cuts to transit service.
These cuts affect all of us. Less transit means more traffic, less access to jobs and opportunities, and fewer options for seniors, youth and people with disabilities. A strong transit system helps keep our entire region connected and our economy moving.
Even if you don’t ride, TriMet makes our entire community a better place to live — and that’s an investment we can all get behind.
