Despite the rising costs of gas, utilities and supplies over the past decade, we have avoided increasing most fares since 2012. This proposed increase would help address inflation and the growing costs of operating our transit system.

If approved, the new fares would take effect January 1, 2024.

We understand that a fare increase may be challenging for people struggling financially. TriMet currently offers a reduced fare for seniors, youth, people with disabilities and people living on a low income, who get unlimited rides for just $28/month. Visit our Reduced Fares webpage to see if you qualify.

We also give fares to community partners and nonprofits for little to no cost to distribute to community members in need.
