Design work on the Southwest Corridor Light Rail Project was paused in 2020 after voters rejected a local funding measure for multiple transportation improvements. In early 2022, Metro, TriMet and the Federal Transit Administration completed the Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) and issued a Record of Decision (ROD) to ensure the project is eligible for future federal funding. See Metro’s project website to access to these documents.

Historic Resource Impacts

The Southwest Corridor Light Rail Project will bring enhancements to Barbur Boulevard with new sidewalks, better crosswalks, protected bike lanes bike and green infrastructure. This expansion results in adverse impacts to several historic resources along the Southwest Corridor.

As part of the project’s environmental review process, we are working with state and federal partners to identify the impacts to historic resources and the actions we can take to mitigate these impacts.

Community Activities and Events

In addition to our project meetings, the SW Corridor Project Team frequently participates in other community activities and events. Find us at the following events to talk with project staff and learn more about the project.

Due to health concerns, most upcoming community events and activities have been postponed. We are exploring opportunities to continue community engagement through virtual events.

In the meantime, you can watch the Conceptual Design Report presentation from the Portland State University Friday Transportation Seminar.
