Become a Transit Equity Advisory Committee Member

TriMet’s Transit Equity Advisory Committee (TEAC) is accepting applications for new members!

 

TEAC provides insight and guidance to TriMet’s General Manager on issues of equity, access and inclusion. Committee members represent concerns, issues and challenges faced by people experiencing a low-income, communities of color, underrepresented and other vulnerable populations served across TriMet's service district.

We’re looking for people who are either part of local community organizations or represent a community group to apply.

People from organizations who represent one or more of the following service categories are encouraged to apply:

Organizations

  • Advocacy
  • Case management (service coordination)
  • Civic engagement and leadership
  • Crisis care and outreach
  • Economic and social justice
  • Health and wellness services
  • Housing (sheltering and houseless services)
  • Immigrant or refugee services
  • Mental and behavioral health
  • Services and programs, such as SNAP or Oregon Health Plan
  • Transportation
  • Youth empowerment or education

Eligibility

Committee members must meet certain qualifications and understand their responsibilities to join TEAC:

Member qualifications

  • Represent a community-based organization or community group based in Washington, Multnomah or Clackamas county.
  • Able to dedicate a minimum of 24 hours per year to TEAC meetings and events.
  • Work in collaboration with people from other organizations.

TEAC members responsibilities

  • Identify opportunities for community input related to TriMet programs and services.
  • Advise on procedures and practices for getting public opinion on transit issues.
  • Serve as a liaison between the public, TriMet’s Board of Directors and the General Manager.
  • Recommend strategies and ideas for improved transit service and better representation for vulnerable populations using TriMet’s services.
