40-Tacoma/Swan Island connects Swan Island, Rose Quarter, Portland City Center, South Portland, Sellwood, SE Tacoma/Johnson Creek Park & Ride and Clackamas Town Center via Basin, Cutter Circle, Going, Greeley, Interstate, 5th/6th, Macadam, Tacoma and Linwood. One morning and one afternoon weekday trip provides a connection between Fuller Road MAX Station and Cleveland High School.

Service alert in effect:
Beginning Sunday, August 23, Line 40 will be extended to replace Line 34 between SE Tacoma/Johnson Creek Park & Ride and Clackamas Town Center. Buses will arrive about every 60 minutes on weekdays, and there will be no weekend service between the Park & Ride and Clackamas Town Center. One morning and one afternoon weekday trip on Line 40 to Fuller Road MAX Station provides a connection between Southeast Portland and MAX Green Line.
